Our Mission

Empowering displaced musicians to become musical ambassadors of peace, through orchestral opportunities and collaborative community

Our Vision

The International Orchestra of Refugees connects talented refugee musicians with meaningful opportunities to preserve their cultural heritage, find economic prosperity, and boost social integration.

We find refugee musicians locally, and connect them globally, be it to other musicians, customers, and sponsors in their new community.

We not only search for talent, but find ways for it to grow, be valued, and preserved.

Our Values

COLLABORATION

We aspire to build a culture of collaboration through community building, active listening, and the open sharing of ideas. We facilitate international co-operation among refugee artists, staff, volunteers, and partner organizations.

DIVERSITY

We come together as musical ambassadors of peace in pursuit of diverse ideas, cultures, languages, and beliefs. We honor our differences, and uphold the common language of music that brings us together.

EMPOWERMENT

We empower displaced musicians to become stronger and more confident in controlling one’s life, and claiming one’s rights.

INGENUITY

We are determined to be innovative, working with refugees to creatively generate sustainable opportunities allowing persons to move from a state of oppression to a state of purpose and freedom.

DEDICATION

We are dedicated to our vision of identifying and empowering talented refugee musicians to connect and use orchestral music to create opportunities to prosper
